Why here, why now?

I haven't lived anywhere for more than eight months since I left my hometown of Mission, B.C. at 17 years old.

I haven't lived anywhere for more than eight months since I left my hometown of Mission, B.C. at 17 years old.

I've been promising friends, ex-boyfriends and family "I'll be back" in Beautiful British Columbia for about seven years - and until now, had no real plans to follow through on those promises. Not that I didn't want to end up in my favorite place in the world, just that I assumed it would happen later, when I was ready to "settle down."

"Where in the world are you Carmen Sandiego?" was a frequent post on my Facebook wall.

My Facebook's busy "Cities I've Visited" feature made me proud as well as posting somewhere abroad as my current city. So why move back to B.C., the place I want to end up eventually and why now?

Would it be clich茅 for me to say the Olympics hit a nerve? Well, I guess I'll just have to be a clich茅.

Watching the Olympics take place from my most recent home of Halifax, N.S., I had friends messaging me from places I've lived around the globe Nikos in Greece, Auriane in France, Panos in England, Fernando in Mexico, Ronald in Costa Rica -the list goes on. The first comment was "I thought Canada was cold!" followed by the unavoidable "So are you going to a tons of events?"

I had to tell all of them that no, I wasn't celebrating my awesome province with the rest of my hometown friends, I was watching it on television like the rest of the world.

So when I saw The Chief job posting pop into my virtual world, I began to ask myself: "If I could commit to anywhere, what could be better?"

Close enough to Mom and Dad to visit on weekends and steal furniture, but not be expected for supper?

Check.

Big city with tons of concerts and art galleries less than an hour away?

Check.

Snow in the right places - aka the amazing resort 40 minutes away and not piled four feet in my driveway?

Check.

Most beautiful walk to work I've ever had and super outdoorsy community?

Check.

Journalism job?

Double check.

So really, was passing up this experience even an option?

No.

As a tribute to all of you 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 residents, my first two weeks could not have been better.

I've already found my way onto several sports teams, met a number of you through your friendly greetings and explored the area from Shannon Falls to Alice Lake and I'm stoked to hit the slopes this weekend.

So all in all, I think I made the right choice.

P.S. I changed my current city to 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 and bought a climbing harness.
