The principle of equality is fundamental to Sikhism. You may remember the internal debate regarding chairs in the temple. The issue centred on whether the use of chairs by some contravened this concept of equal status.
Traditional Sikh men are easily recognized with their turbans and the wearing of the five articles of faith: uncut hair, a small comb, an iron bracelet, ceremonial sword and special undergarment.
