The Outpatient Clinical Treatment (Adult,Child and Youth) and School Based Prevention Programs at Sea to Sky Community Services Society (SSCSS) has received notification of termination from Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCH) for two of its addictions contracts.

Vancouver Coastal Health refuses to refer to the discontinuation of these important services as "cuts," but is calling them a "redesign" of services. This so-called "redesign" will not include any new money, staff or resources into the local mental health office, which is where the 100 or so now-displaced adult clients will be expected to transfer in order to receive addiction counselling and support.

School-based prevention, and youth and child addiction services will now be non-existent.

This means that 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 will no longer have any effective, accessible addiction treatment available. And none at all for youth. And mental health will now attempt to carry the extra caseload, which will put more strain on that resource as well.

These cuts spell disaster for all 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 residents and families - whether they are in treatment or not. Any money the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority thinks they are saving will be spent 1,000-fold once our schools, hospitals, and families start to feel the immediate fall-out from these cuts.

I strongly urge all 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 residents to take a stand and demand that these services be saved. Any decrease in addiction services at SSCSS is unacceptable. Please email your letter of support for our addiction services at SSCSS as well as any questions you have to director of Mental Health and Addictions for our area Joanne Bezzubetz at Vancouver Coastal Health at [email protected]

And let's put as much community pressure as we can on our MLA Joan McIntyre at [email protected] all, she was elected to represent our community in matters such as this.
