Editor,

老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 is my home and community and I am writing to make my community aware of events that are happening in other parts of the world, that they may not be aware of.

I have lived in 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 for 20 years. I fled Iran 26 years ago to escape the persecution committed against the Baha'is in that country, many who have been executed. I am saddened to say that the transgressions against the Baha'is have not stopped and in fact after the recent civil unrest, the government is trying to blame the Baha'is for the discontent and frustration of the people.

In spring of 2008, seven Baha'i leaders were arrested in Iran. Now they are going to be made an example by a 'show trial' with a predetermined outcome.

The Baha'is in Iran have been used as scapegoats to deflect the attention of an anxious population away from those in power. The government of Iran rather than accepting responsibility for the turmoil in the country seeks to lay the blame on others, including foreign powers, international organizations and media outlets, students, women, and terrorists.

The Baha'is are included in this long list of alleged culprits. The situation facing these Baha'i leaders is extremely threatening. I am deeply concerned for their safety.

I would like to thank The Honorable Lawrence Cannon, Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs who issued a statement saying that "Canada remains deeply concerned by Iran's ongoing arbitrary detention of seven Bah谩'i community leaders.

It is deplorable that these individuals were detained on the sole basis of their faith and have been denied a fair trial."

I fervently ask you to keep these seven and other Baha'i members in Iran including my brother and his family, in your prayers.

M. Dickinson
