Personal attack aside, I'd like to address the inaccuracies in Sam Gerski's letter ("Anti-GAS hot air," The Chief, April 9). First, the local opposition to GAS extends far beyond Catherine Jackson, myself and a few others.
There are hundreds of anti-GAS letters on the Environmental Assessment Office website, over 2,700 signatures on our petition, and almost 3,000 members on the Facebook group "Save Cat Lake."
Second, Brohm Ridge is not "someone else's backyard." It is predominantly Crown land, and will be sold at $5,000 per acre if GAS is approved. Third, Sam's point about the Oceanfront benefits being "far from immediate" is false.
Like GAS, the Oceanfront has a 20-year build-out. Unlike GAS, it is within District of 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 boundaries and is well past the approval phase.
So the benefits of Oceanfront are immediate in every sense of the word.
It's a win-win for 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 because we get the jobs and economic stimulus, plus we get to keep our publicly owned backcountry wilderness playground.
