Editor,
I saw notice of the anniversary of Greg Parker's passing with a mixture of regret and melancholy. Greg and I did "Chips and Pop" service at Don Ross for a few years.
I came to appreciate that we were the only Dads in that service. Both of us working guys in the transportation industry, it was a community service avenue that our shift work allowed us to pursue.
While our children were in that school I believe we both came to develop our own insights to the world of our kids. I came to appreciate what it means to be a volunteer from a mature perspective.
It was where the rubber meets the road. Especially appropriate for a guy out on Highway 99 as Greg was.
I had hoped that Greg and I would share stories and experiences in our old boy days.
I trust his family knows what it means to lose a good man, our community should appreciate the loss as well.
Happy Trails Greg, wherever you are.
