Hamper literature missed

Editor,

In response to the letter to the editor a few weeks ago entitled "Christmas Care pamphlets criticized," [The Chief, Dec. 24]. There seems to be some misunderstanding concerning Community Christmas Care and the "pamphlets" that the committee chose to included in the Christmas hampers this year.

Firstly, the team that makes Community Christmas Care happen is made up primarily of volunteers and clergy from our local churches here in 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料. We only seek to be authentic to who we are, especially around Christmas.

Secondly, in the past we have included a copy of the New Testament in each hamper.

This year we decided to also include a short copy of the traditional Christmas Story, as well as a list of all the churches hosting Christmas Eve candlelight gatherings.

It was not our intention to make those who received a hamper feel obligated to read or attend any of these. It was our desire to just make it available to those who were interested as it did relate to Christmas.

However, we also discovered in the packet an invitation for anyone desiring to participate in an on-line study.

This invitation was not to be included in the hampers. Unfortunately, this was missed.

I understand if this pushed your buttons; it pushed ours as well. In no way was it our desire to come across as coercive. We apologize to any who might have felt that way.

And finally, let me say thank you to all of you who contributed so generously to Community Christmas Care this year. Through your amazing generosity we were able to provide over 300 hampers! That is our strongest year to date so thank-you again.
