Bear lock rules ludicrous

I deeply regret not having had the time to write about ["Bear locks infringe rights," The Chief letters, May 22] until now. I thank all those who have though, and I am very glad the community is not letting this issue lie.

I deeply regret not having had the time to write about ["Bear locks infringe rights," The Chief letters, May 22] until now. I thank all those who have though, and I am very glad the community is not letting this issue lie.

I will leave it to those other logical and equally wronged folk to argue the foolishness of improving a garbage bin that neither the residents nor the district owns.

It's regarding the mind-numbingly stupid waste of money in bear-proofing bins locked in garages that I'd like to add my name to the list of those opposed.

I hated this idea when I thought it was the district wasting its funds (which are of course ours), but then I learned that as individuals we are expected to pay.

The argument that bears will learn the fruitlessness of breaking into garages to get to bins found to be locked is ludicrous when you realize that nobody will lock a bin in a garage.

Besides, has this even happened in 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料? An added problem with the bear-proof locks is that people now feel empowered to leave bins out when they used to be locked away.

My townhouse complex is now plagued with people breaking our strata bylaws and leaving bins out all week. This never used to be an issue.

Now council and property managers have to spend time and money in suppressing this new problem by getting people to once again garage their ugly totes.

I am all for protecting the bears by deterring them from our bins - most are. I'm just against money-wasting and illogical, undemocratic decision-making. Only totes left outside should be modified, and Mr. Carney should be obliged to do the decent thing and pay to comply with the new law.
