An Oceanfront vision

Editor, I had the reverent pleasure of attending the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Brennan Park Recreation centre.

Editor,

I had the reverent pleasure of attending the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Brennan Park Recreation centre.

It seems every year the facility is overwhelmed with more and more members of the public and larger organizations from the Air Cadets, Scouts, Pipe Band, to the RCMP representatives.

Please consider this with most respect a suggestion.

It is my suggestion and I'm sure many others in the community that a larger facility be constructed that may host such an important and reverent event in the future.

My vision is a larger facility based down on the Nexen lands, or at the very least incorporated into the proposed vision for that sight.

The facility would have as the front focal point a large park/garden setting with at its center a new beautiful cenotaph facing east as an entry point to the new development, an entry road one way to the southeast of the cenotaph and exit road to the northwest. The park setting would encircle the monument.

Immediately behind and flanking the cenotaph setting would be a facility that would act as a multi functional indoor /outdoor complex. Such a facility I envision would house amenities that compliment the very essence of core groups in the community such as the Air Cadets, Cub Scouts, RCMP drill hall, and possibly future Sea Cadets, as well as the 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 Pipe Band.

Within the center of the complex would be a Convention Centre, which would also double as a concert presentation centre to accommodate the fast growing population of 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料.

This facility I envision would also have about it's partially covered perimeter exterior, a walk-about park setting with bleachers that could host the Farmers Market, Canada Day celebrations, and the hugely successful Show & Shine.

One can perhaps even envision a future site for the Loggers Day sport events in an adjacent park setting. Thesubsequent loggers contestant field could double through out the year for public events and concerts.

All of these events throughout the year would combine to alleviate cost of construction, let alone bring in tourist through the downtown area.

Imagine mayor and councillors the Royal Hudson gliding to a stop next to the facility on Canada Day packed with tourist awaiting to see the markets and surrounding splendour of the mountains that one would get from that vantage point.

Such a facility would of course be very creative and be seen as a centerpiece of the community.

The styling of the facility would reflect of course the Armed Forces along with great input from the First Nations community as well as providing a showcase for the surrounding beauty of the land.

老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料, our home, now deserves a proper centerpiece, a focal point, a place to celebrate all that we have.

My fear is that the current proposed development would diminish the required space and view that we all so deserve.
