WINNIPEG — Police say a teacher in Winnipeg faces child pornography charges after an investigation that began in January.

Winnipeg police say their Internet Child Exploitation Unit was alerted at that time of child sexual abuse imagery being uploaded to an IP address within the city.

They say officers identified a suspect and residence associated with the IP address and executed a search warrant Wednesday in the Seven Oaks neighbourhood.

Police say officers found child sexual abuse imagery during the search, and several electronic storage devices were seized.

They say the suspect had been a teacher in multiple school divisions within Winnipeg and the province for the last 15 years.

Alan Lindsay Veness, who is 59, has been charged with possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.
