WINNIPEG 鈥� A third person has died from injuries sustained in what Winnipeg police have described as a string of random assaults last summer, and two more people now join a pair of teens already facing murder charges in the case.
Thirty-six-year-old Danielle Ballantyne and 54-year-old Marvin Felix died in the days following the alleged attacks in the Point Douglas area on Aug. 22, and a pair of 15-year-old boys were charged with murder and assault.
Police now say Troy Baguley, 51, who'd suffered life-altering injuries in the attacks, died on March 3.
Police say the teens, one of whom has since turned 16, were arrested Wednesday at the Manitoba Youth Centre and face second-degree murder charges in the deaths of Felix and Baguley, and first-degree-murder in Ballantyne's death.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested at his home on the same day and is charged with second-degree murder in Baguley's death.
Investigators also charged Tristan Colten Moose, 21, with second-degree murder in Baguley's death after arresting him at the Headingley Correctional Centre late last month.
Police say the victims and suspects were not previously known to one another.
All four have been detained in custody.
Police say the Homicide Unit has concluded its investigation, and further arrests are not anticipated.
They also say the Winnipeg Police Service has collaborated with community organizations to provide a trauma-informed and culturally safe support network for the families involved.
