Yo Gabba Gabba is a funky kids’ show that is fun for children and entertaining for adults. It’s packed with music and guest stars.

Boom. You feel that? Another baby was just born in ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ. And if the past nine years is any indication, by the time you finish reading this breathtakingly eloquent review, another two kick-ass ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ kids will be born.
This means on any given rainy day there are parents and children being exposed to mind-meltingly bad kids’ shows. No more. Next time might I recommend the rarest gem of early child programming — one that replaces annoying product placement with fantastic music. Moms, dads, college kids, I present to you: Yo Gabba Gabba.
This 30-minute show features a few different segments to each episode, but is primarily a live-action affair with five colourful characters and their friend DJ Lance.
Now, kids will love it all, but if you make it past the live-action stuff, there are a few bits of gold in here for parents as well. This is in no small part a result of one of the creators (Christian Jacobs) also being part of the fun-loving indie band The Aquabats.
It’s this connection that leads to some phenomenal live musical guests, including an animated musical segment that’s of top quality.
Then to top this mountain of awesome, you have regular appearances from Mark Mothersbaugh (lead singer of Devo) teaching drawing and Biz Markie teaching beat boxing to kids. That right there is pure gold and I didn’t even mention the guest stars. Yo Gabba Gabba is Awestreaming on Netflix… enjoy.
