The Murwillumbah Philharmonic Choir from Australia not only performs in 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 on Monday (July 9) at St. John's Anglican Church, but the 35-member group is also spending the night with members of our local Sea to Sky Singers.
"The Australian choir will be performing here as part of a tour following the Kathaumixw International Choral Festival in Powell River," said Kirstin Clausen of the S2S Singers. "The festival attracts choirs from around the world."
The five-day choral festival (July 3-7) is filled with concerts, common song singing, choral and vocal solo competitions, conductors' seminars and social events.
"For many of the choirs coming to the festival, it is their first time visiting Canada, so they get to tour small communities and perform," said Clausen. "We're very fortunate to have this international-calibre choir coming to perform."
Clausen said members of St. John's Anglican Church and the Singers are throwing a potluck supper to welcome the Aussie singers on the night of the show.
"After the performance, church members and members of the Singers are taking one or two members of the Australian group to billet with us for the night before they move on with their tour," she said. "We've done this in the past with other choirs who attended the festival in Powell River."
Clausen said audiences should expect lots of beautiful harmonies during the show.
"They are a Philharmonic choir, so there will be lots of harmonies, and of course as they are an Australian choir, we should expect some Aussie music," she said. "It will be a real treat to hear such a high-calibre choir perform."
The show is also a fundraiser for the church's roof.
"Half of the proceeds go to the choir, and the other half will go to St. John's roof, which is an ongoing project," she said.
The Murwillumbah Philharmonic Choir from Australia performs at St. John's Anglican Church on Monday (July 9) at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and are available at the door.
