Time to get Buffy

Longtime readers will have noticed a reoccurring theme over the past decade. When tasked with any vampire-related entertainment review, it was ended with a mention of the greatest teen vampire series ever: Buffy.

Longtime readers will have noticed a reoccurring theme over the past decade. When tasked with any vampire-related entertainment review, it was ended with a mention of the greatest teen vampire series ever: Buffy. If you just tuned out at the mere mention of the word Buffy (or "teen") - perfect! This review is for you, and I hope to convince you that Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series is not as lame as it sounds but in fact is the yardstick by which all teen vampire entertainment should be measured.

Buffy was one of the first cult-adored hits from Joss Whedon, who then went on to do Dr. Horribles sing-a-long-blog, Firefly and a little film called The Avengers. Buffy the show works for many reasons. Mostly, the writing is phenomenal but there's also a great cast of actors, engaging story arcs, and most importantly, great villains.

Buffy is the Vampire Slayer and her core of friends is aptly dubbed the Scooby gang. High school drama and rampant monsters mix beautifully in a genre that so many have tried and so many have failed.

For those daunted by the seven-season run, don't be. The first three are easily the best, with the gang starting and graduating high school. Season 4 continues the quality, but if time is short, feel free to skip Season 5, which is pretty much rubbish but the sixth and seventh bring it back for a nice finale.

The best part is I didn't have to watch an eye-gouging crapola fest to tell you about Buffy as all seven seasons are currently streaming on Netflix for your immediate enjoyment.
