The Matin茅e to play SERF

'Barn burner' promised next week at Howe Sound Inn and Brewing Co.

The Matin茅e, a Vancouver-based quintet listed by CBC Radio 3 as one of the top 10 independent bands to watch in 2012, is headlining the first concert in this season's first 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 Equinox Rock Festival (SERF) series next week.

The Matin茅e, which rocked out in a high-energy performance in front of around 3,000 people on the Garibaldi Stage at the recent Live at 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 festival, will serve as the headliner for this fall's first SERF concert on Friday (Sept. 28) at the Howe Sound Inn and Brewing Co.

Tantalus Pass will serve as opening act for the evening, which organizer promise will be "a foot-stomping barn-burner."

"The Matin茅e on stage is a long-established uproar of stomping, clapping, and blazing chops, and the songs were already formidable enough to lodge themselves in local radio playlists," organizer Paul Hudson said in a statement.

"On top of that, the band had emerged as the kind of outfit that could swing between the Merritt Mountain Music Festival and the hipster ground zero of Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret without breaking a sweat. They were already astoundingly versatile and universally appreciated. Now they want to get better."

Doors open at 8 p.m. and the music starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets, which cost $20 for adults, $15 for students, are available at Howe Sound Brewing and Trinity Romance.
