SAM hosts Lan art exhibit

Opening reception planned this Saturday

The 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 Academy of Music (SAM) is staging an opening reception this weekend for an exhibit of work by a 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 artist whose style is described as "unpretentious," "beautiful" and "imaginative."

Lan Yao, who studied Fine Arts at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, will be present for an opening reception of an exhibit on the walls of SAM on Saturday (Nov. 24) at 8:30 p.m.

After her time at Emily Carr, Lan worked for seven years in the computer graphics industry in Vancouver, working as a texture artist and periodically as a modeller. During this time, she hardly painted. Now Lan lives in 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 and like many other artists, is inspired by the natural surroundings and has begun to paint again.

According to organizers, the exhibit features images that conjure up a feeling of "anti-heroes and two headed dog-monsters, scribbled on binders."

"Lan has a unique style that is tough to label," show curator Tyson Braun said in a statement. "At first glance it seems fun, youthful, sketchy and unrefined. As you continue to look, the work begins to unveil itself in complex layers of narration."

The reception runs from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at SAM on Second Avenue in downtown 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料. Original works and prints will be available for purchase.
