'Naomi's Road' production set

Opera performance focuses on internment of Japanese-Canadians

The opera is coming to 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 this weekend.

The Vancouver Opera in Schools program is performing Naomi's Road, a children's opera about one child's experience during the Japanese-Canadian internment during the Second World War, on Sunday (April 28) at the Eagle Eye Theatre.

Naomi's Road, based on a novel of the same name by Joy Kogawa, is a "sensitive, visually evocative production filled with emotion, humour and soaring melodies," organizers said in a statement.

The production, part of the One Book One Community Initiative, a community-wide 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 book club, is coming to 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 at the behest of the 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 Literacy Committee. The event includes an activity fair to learn more about the internment, Japanese language, culture and food, as well as local literacy initiatives, organizers said.
