'Oil Man and the Sea' named finalist for B.C. Book Prize

A book by 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料-based author and journalist Arno Kopecky has been named a finalist for a B.C. Book Prize.

Kopecky's The Oil Man and the Sea: Navigating the Northern Gateway is one of four nominees for the Hubert Evans Non-Fiction Prize, one of the awards to be handed out at the 30th annual Lieutenant Governor's B.C. Book Prize Gala on May 3 in Vancouver.

"The Oil Man and the Sea recounts a sailing trip following the Northern Gateway tanker route for a closer look at the region with a knife at its throat," the book's publishers said in a statement issued on Thursday (March 13). "It is a rich evocation of ecology, culture, and history. Kopecky meditates on the line between impartial reportage and environmental activism, ultimately arguing that there are some places oil tankers should never go."

Kopecky is a journalist and travel writer whose dispatches have appeared inThe Walrus,Foreign Policy, theGlobe and Mail,Maclean's,The Tyeeand Kenya'sDaily Nation.
