14th Howe Sound Music Festival kicks off this Sunday

The 14th Howe Sound Music Festival runs for eight days starting Sunday (April 6).

Talented amateur musicians and professional instructor-performers will descend on the Sea to Sky Corridor for the 14th Howe Sound Music Festival for eight days starting Sunday (April 6).

The annual celebration of young corridor performing artists, many of whom have gone on to pursue careers in the field, will include an elementary school choral workshop featuring students from all six of 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料鈥檚 grade schools, led by clinician Sandra Meister.

An adult choral festival and adjudicated vocal and piano competitions are key parts of the festival. As well, the opening and closing concerts will feature talented musicians who will also adjudicate during the festival.

The opening concert on Sunday at 4 p.m. at St. John鈥檚 Anglican Church features well-known B.C. pianists Ross Salvosa and Scott Meek in a show titled, 鈥淭wo to Tango.鈥

The closing concert, 鈥淭hree鈥檚 Company,鈥 promises to be an upbeat show featuring vocalists Joani Bye and Jan Warren and classically trained pianist Dave Pickell. It takes place on Saturday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. at St. John鈥檚.

On Sunday, April 13, the Highlights Concert will feature those singled out by adjudicators as 鈥済old鈥-level performers during the festival.

The festival is presented by the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association. Tickets for the opening and closing concerts are $20 for adults, $10 for students, with a limited number of discounted tickets available to festival participants and their families.
