In honour of International Women鈥檚 Day on March 8, show coordinators Pat Robinson and Colleen Reid have gathered 34 creative female artists to share their talents at the Foyer Gallery in the 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 Public Library.聽

During this third annual exhibition, female artists celebrate individuality and reveal their interpretation of 鈥渢ransformation鈥 in a variety of art forms accompanied by a written piece.聽

The intention is to affirm and encourage feminine perspective through an inclusive theme-based show.聽

The spirit of the exhibit is one of collaboration and co-operation, open to all women who create.聽

All profits and donations from this year鈥檚 International Women鈥檚 Day art show will be given to Mamquam Edible School Yard (MESY).

Come out and meet many of the artists at their special reception on Tuesday, March 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Searching for authenticity

Artist Sarah Rose originally trained and worked in graphic design for 10 years until she realized that she had been using her refined artistic skills solely to make other people鈥檚 ideas come to life.聽

She altered her path, searching for 鈥渁uthentic meaning鈥 and started putting her creative energy into her own art.聽

Rose recalls, 鈥淚 had forgotten about myself and my creative voice. What was it that I wanted to say?鈥澛

Rose went into artistic hibernation to explore her passions for spirituality and yoga.聽

鈥淲alking the medicine wheel held in Shamanic tradition from Peru, which honours the four directions, nature and the place where they intersect in me, brought me to begin to create hand drawn designs,鈥 says Rose.聽

Channelled art

Moving from a skilled technical approach to a more expressive one, life-long artist Juliette Woods has tried a plethora of 2D media in her artistic career. Over the years her work and approach has evolved to allow expectations to fall away to reveal an experience that can be considered channelled art 鈥 the freedom to create purely as a means of spiritual connection. Woods has a rich shamanic lifestyle that often involves walking in two worlds at once.聽

Now Juliette transforms and expresses not just what she sees or feels, but allows guidance through that state of active meditation.聽

Her motivation to participate in the International Woman鈥檚 Day Art Show stems from a desire to foster community, connection, and encouragement for women to confidently stand in sensitive and powerful ways together.

Creative meditation聽

Fashion designer and inquisitive painter Malene Grotrian uses her curiosity to fuel inspiration to embrace new themes and embark down that unknown path of creating something original.聽

In 2012, she began painting regularly as a form of creative meditation.聽

It wasn鈥檛 until Grotrian donated three of her personal paintings to a charity auction, that she understood that painting was another way to connect with people, besides fashion.聽

Soon after she ventured into a deeper exploration of abstract painting, expanding her gallery of art in a variety of themes of women, energy, nature, metallic and custom commissioned work.聽

Papercast relief

Although artist Heather Royal Brant is most known for her papercast relief sculptures, she is currently painting and exploring concentric structures in various mediums and forms, including creating labyrinths and mandalas that can be walked and engaged with in body, mind and spirit.聽

鈥淭his year鈥檚 theme of transformation inspired me greatly as this is a path I have been walking for many years in many ways. In teaching the Medicine Wheel, I continue to learn, grow and transform, unearthing many layers of who I think I am or who I thought I could be.,鈥 she says.聽

鈥淭his deep cultural and medicine work with my art background weaves together quite effortlessly.聽

鈥淢y inspiration for this year鈥檚 painting came from my direct experience of what it means to surrender to a higher power and to simply BE, to trust oneself.鈥
