The Sea to Sky Corridor is coming together on Sep. 30 to mark Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. These events provide an opportunity for communities to gather, reflect on the painful legacy of residential schools, and support Indigenous healing efforts. Whether through marches, storytelling, or hands-on workshops, there are several events you can take part in. Here are some of the highlights: 

  1. Sea to Sky Orange Shirt Day March 

Date: Monday, Sep. 30 

Time: 12:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Capilano University students showcase projects focusing on Indigenous histories and cultures. Visitors can reflect on Truth and Reconciliation by sharing thoughts on paper orange shirts displayed throughout the museum. on their website. 

On Reconciliation Day, Sept. 30 ,at MONOVA, visitors can take part in guided tours of the permanent gallery led by Indigenous Cultural Programmers, focusing on the history of the S岣祑x瘫wú7mesh and S蓹l虛ílw蓹ta涩 peoples. Families can also engage in activities like readings of children's stories about residential schools, Indigenous-themed games, and contributing messages of hope on paper t-shirts and rocks for MONOVA’s community display.
