LONDON (AP) 鈥� For lovers, new entertainment is a little less far, far away 鈥� Lucasfilm announced three new live-action films in the franchise Friday.
The news, which includes the return of in one of the films, was revealed at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 in London by Lucasfilm President and also on the Star Wars website. Directing the movies will be James Mangold, Dave Filoni and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Kennedy brought the directors onstage for the announcement.
Mangold鈥檚 film will return to the dawn of the Jedi. Filoni鈥檚 will be about the New Republic, and 鈥渨ill close out the interconnected stories told in 鈥楾he Mandalorian,' 鈥楾he Book of Boba Fett,鈥� 鈥楢hsoka,鈥� and other Disney+ series,鈥� the announcement said. Obaid-Chinoy鈥檚 movie will focus on the events after 鈥淭he Rise of Skywalker,鈥� and feature Ridley back as Rey 鈥渁s she builds a new Jedi Order.鈥�
Mangold directed 鈥淟ogan鈥� and the upcoming Filoni helmed and 鈥淎hsoka,鈥� and Obaid-Chinoy directed and 鈥淪aving Face.鈥�
